We do not sell your data or share it with third parties for marketing purposes. Your library is yours alone.
1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains what data BookStash ("we", "us") collects, how we use it, and how we protect it. By using the app, you agree to the terms of this Policy.
2. Data we collect
Account data
- Email address (when signing up via email or Google)
- Name and profile photo (only when signing in with Google, if provided by Google)
App data
- Books you add to your library (title, author, cover, genre)
- Reading status (want to read / reading / read)
- Dates when books were added or status was changed
- Collections and book tags
Technical data
- Device type and operating system (for error diagnostics)
- URLs you submit to add books (processed once and not stored separately)
3. How we use your data
- To provide and maintain the app
- To sync your library across devices
- To send account confirmation and sign-in emails (to your own address)
- To generate reading stats and collages exclusively for you
- To diagnose and fix technical issues
4. Third-party services
We use the following services to operate the app:
- Supabase — cloud database, authentication, and file storage (covers, collages). Servers are located in the EU. Supabase Privacy Policy
- Google Sign-In — optional sign-in method. Google Privacy Policy
- Google Books API — enriches book metadata (title, author, description). Search queries are not linked to your account.
We do not use advertising SDKs, behavioral analytics, or trackers of any kind.
5. Storage and security
All data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Access to your account is protected by an authentication token that is automatically refreshed. Book covers and collages are stored in private Supabase Storage, inaccessible to other users.
6. Your rights
- Access — you can view all your data directly in the app
- Deletion — contact us to permanently delete your account and all associated data
- Portability — we can provide your data in JSON format upon request
- Withdrawal — you may stop using the app and request data deletion at any time
7. Children's data
The app is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time. For significant changes, we will notify you via the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
